The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture signed a Cooperation agreement with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, to export Shrimp from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to China.
The Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al Eyadh stated that KSA is expected to export (40,000 ) tons to China by the end of 2018 with value exceeding one billion Saudi Riyals. Moreover, the ministry aims to reach (80,000) tons by 2020, as the Chinese seafood market is the largest and most rapidly developing in the world.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry organized a field visit for the Chinese delegation, to the Jeddah Fisheries Research Center, the Jeddah Islamic Port Customs and the Ministry’s laboratory. These visits enhanced the view on the national efforts to support and develop further the aquaculture sector in a sustainable way, maintaining the highest international standards for our products for the local and export markets.
